A Wild Rumpus Halloween!

This year was my son’s second Halloween, but it was his first chance to trick or treat. He’ll be two next week, but last year he was barely walking, so we were really excited about this year. I have always called him my little Wild Thing (I have Max in his wolf suit with my son’s name tattooed on my foot) and Where the Wild Things Are has been a treasured story between him and I, read over and over again at many, many bedtimes. It makes me sad to picture him not being enthralled by our books anymore, trading them for superheroes and creepy cartoon characters, so I took full advantage of having the final say in his Halloween costume and made him King of all Wild Things. It was literally PERFECT; I was told constantly that my son’s costume was the cutest they’d seen anywhere, not to mention it was toasty warm and super soft! It’s from Pottery Barn kids and yes, was WAY too expensive for a kid’s costume, but it was so worth it! Just look at this little mischief maker:

His first trick or treat was a huge success: he loved meeting everyone and picking out the candy, filling his little bucket with all sorts of delight. It made me smile to see him having so much, and pleased me to see my little Wild Thing come to life! I may sometimes miss celebrating holidays the “young” way (dressing myself up, partying till dawn, etc.) but nothing could replace the fun I had with my family. Times like these make me know being a mom is what I was meant to do ๐Ÿ˜Š

Did your little ones enjoy Halloween? Anyone else have a storybook character to trick or treat with? I’d love to hear your stories! I hope everyone had a great and spooky weekend; now time to focus on the upcoming holiday season…Gonzo Momma style!! ๐Ÿ˜„
